Using AI, the company aims to make lifting operations smarter, more predictive and more efficient, ensuring we continue to add value for our clients around the world

With a new lifting solutions facility in Abu Dhabi, EnerMech is strengthening its position as a trusted partner to the region’s energy sector.

It has recently secured several long-term contract extensions, reflecting the confidence clients have in its technical expertise, safety record and ability to deliver across complex lifting scopes.

In an exclusive interview with OGN energy magazine, Dan Collins, Senior Vice-President Lifting Solutions, has expressed optimism about the region’s lifting market, driven by strong offshore activity, rising demand for safe, efficient solutions, and growing client trust built on quality, reliability, and long-term partnerships.

Its new Abu Dhabi facility enhances regional capability, featuring advanced workshops, logistics support, and a crane simulator dedicated to training and operational excellence.

Below are excerpts from the interview:

What’s your outlook on the lifting market in the Middle East?

The market remains strong, driven by the scale and complexity of offshore projects across the region.

The demand for safe, efficient lifting solutions continues to grow and clients are increasingly focused on quality, reliability and lifecycle performance.

EnerMech's new Abu Dhabi facility

We’re managing major crane operations and maintenance scopes for several key clients and my focus is on maintaining quality and consistent high standards wherever we operate.

A major milestone has been the opening of our new, dedicated Abu Dhabi lifting facility.

It allows us to focus purely on cranes and lifting, with repair and overhaul workshops, logistics support and engineering offices all designed for lean, efficient operations.

We’re also installing an offshore crane simulator to train our people and eventually offer to clients, reinforcing our long-term commitment to the region.

EnerMech recently secured a two-year cranes contract extension and your Energy Solutions team also secured a five-year extension for leak testing and flange management services. What drives that level of long-term customer trust?

Ultimately, it comes down to service delivery and the confidence clients have in us.

When an operator extends an existing contract, it’s the strongest endorsement we can receive.

Our crane and lifting crews are highly skilled and deeply embedded in client operations, often integrated into their planning and maintenance systems.

That level of trust is built through years of safe, reliable delivery and open communication.

The demand for safe, efficient lifting solutions continues to grow

We’re also seeing more operators joining the dots across EnerMech’s service lines, leveraging our specialist capabilities to create a more integrated offering.

Our flexibility and willingness to adapt are key reasons we continue to build strong, long-term partnerships.

What sets EnerMech apart?

Our edge lies in the combination of technical excellence, integrity and collaboration.

Operating in a high-risk sector demands complete transparency and teamwork and we pride ourselves on building trusted relationships that allow us to deliver safely and efficiently every time.

We also benefit from being part of a broader organisation with expertise beyond lifting.

Our energy solutions and infrastructure, and industrial solutions teams enable us to provide integrated support wherever it adds value for customers.

How can the strategic significance of lifting operations be effectively understood?

Many people see lifting as just moving equipment from A to B, but it’s far more sophisticated.

We deliver full lifting solutions such as supporting clients in safely removing and reinstalling heavy assets like compressors and turbines offshore.

That involves everything from calculating deck loadings to fabricating bespoke lifting frames.

Our goal is to ensure clients fully understand the depth of our integrated offering.

We’ve completed some impressive multi-discipline projects worldwide and built a very strong track record.

Digitalisation and AI seem to be becoming increasingly relevant in lifting, how is EnerMech approaching that?

Innovation is central to our delivery; we have a number of clients already leveraging our propriety EVAMP platform which enables predictive, data-driven maintenance and digitised asset management, reducing downtime and enhancing reliability.

Using this tool, clients can instantly see which cranes are operational or undergoing maintenance, which is a huge advantage, helping them to plan maintenance proactively.

We are continuously challenging the norm, driving improvement not just in lifting, but across all our service lines, engineering-led, not admin-heavy, so our customers can focus on value-adding work.

How is the lifting market performing globally and where are you focusing growth efforts?

Despite global headwinds, there’s still strong activity and plenty of opportunities for well positioned companies such as EnerMech.

We have projects across the Middle East, Africa, the Caspian, Europe, Australia and Trinidad and Tobago.

A key focus is expanding into the Gulf of Mexico and Guyana, where many of our existing customers already operate.

The new Abu Dhabi facility strengthens our regional presence, better serves the market, and reinforces our ambition to lead in world-class lifting solutions in region.

We’re also investing in local capability, training and hiring people to respond quickly and effectively to client needs.

Looking ahead, our priority is delivering safely while embracing digital transformation. With AI, we aim to make lifting operations smarter, more predictive and more efficient, ensuring we continue to add value for our clients around the world.
