EUC offers excellency in consultancy and services
Abu Dhabi based Eastern Union Corporation (EUC), a subsidiary of the noted Bhatia Brothers Group, offers marketing and infrastructure support for its consultant principals and their clients in four specialist areas.
These are management consultancy, engineering consultancy and contracting, information technology and the environment.
A local company with an international outlook, EUC is seeking to add value to the projects it secures on behalf of its principals, offering a coordinated approach and building on the synergies both amongst its own principals and the huge resources of the Bhatia Brothers Group
The key to EUC's success is its ability to combine the talents of its own expert staff and the full resources of the Bhatia Brothers group and its subsidiaries and associates to identify projects early and then position itself and its principals appropriately.
Knowledge management is another key factor for EUC and indeed the whole Group, especially the ability to know its customers intimately and to transfer data and information throughout the network quickly and efficiently.
To that end the entire Bhatia Brothers Group is implementing a customer relationship management system.
EUC is an ISO 9001 company.
Progressive Management Consultancy
The firm works with major international management consultants based in the UK which offer management consultancy for the oil and gas, water and power and telecommunications industries, the government sector and banks in the region.
Focusing on restructuring, reorganising and re-engineering, the company provides experienced consultants drawn from the senior management of major international oil, utility and other companies covering all aspects of clients' operations.
Together, EUC and its principals have undertaken a number of major, high profile oil and gas and power and water studies in the Gulf and in the UAE in particular, over the past five years.
Following their success in the oil and power sectors and under EUC's guidance the companies are now targeting the government, banking and telecommunications sectors and are looking to expand their operations throughout this region.
Excellence in Engineering Consultancy/FEED, PMC, EPC, EPMC Contracts
On the engineering side, EUC works closely with Engineers India Limited (EIL) which has been serving the hydrocarbon and process industries since 1965.
EIL offers engineering and consultancy services and undertakes FEED, PMC EPC and EPMC contracts in areas such as petroleum refineries, pipelines, offshore structures and platforms, oil and gas processing, fertilisers, metallurgy, ports and terminals and power generation.
It is perhaps the largest engineering company in the world for detailed engineering and revamp work.
EIL also offers specialist services in the areas of process design and development; heat and mass transfer equipment design; environmental engineering; advanced control and optimisation; information technology services and operations and safety, including HAZOP studies and risk analysis. It has worked with all major process licensors from the US and Europe
EIL also assists its clients in conceptualising projects, in selecting environmentally friendly technologies, in the undertaking of feasibility studies and in obtaining statutory project clearances through high quality environment studies.
EIL has been in the Gulf and UAE market now for well over 15 years and claims to have impeccable references.
Recent projects include ISO Octane Refinery in the JAFZ and Gasco's Bab Maqta Tweeelah PL (with NPCC).
There are several projects underway such as Adma's halon replacement and Bunduq's GIP.
Similarly, there are a number of projects under bidding, some of large sizes and in the form of joint ventures.
EIL has designed more than 200 offshore platforms and is currently executing a process (water injection/gas compression) platform project worth $170 million on an EPC basis.
The firm says that it remains committed to the UAE market and has made its Abu Dhabi office the hub for the Gulf.
Additionally it can source further engineering resources from its head office in New Delhi, where it has over 2,500 professional engineers on its payroll. The company operates under the ISO 9001 quality management system.
A New Approach to Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
In Information Technology (IT), Eastern Union is very closely associated with international IT companies for its services to the UAE market.
Along with its principals, it concentrates on the areas of IT solutions, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), e-commerce and knowledge management/document management systems consultancy and IT training.
The key to its success is in providing the local interface between its clients in the region and outsource providers in India and around the world, says the firm.
EUC and its principals provide software solutions for systems such as MAXIMO and SAP, to fit local requirements of many large enterprises in the oil industry.
EUC and its principal consultants will work with the client to determine the scope, details, deadlines and budget for the changes needed and will carry out the actual writing of the code with the lowest cost involved.
EUC and its principal will then manage the project on behalf of the client to ensure that the project is delivered on time, to the specified quality and at the agreed budget cost.
EUC will also assist its client in outsourcing its non critical business processes such as basic data entry, accounting, reconciliation and call centers on behalf of airlines, banks, financial institutions and oil companies.
By moving such processes to low cost but technically proficient environments such as India, savings of as much as 50 per cent in overheads can be achieved, with no loss in service quality.
Environment Commitment
The company is very active in the area of environmental issues, working with its principals, a well-known international environmental consultancy based in the US and the UK.
Over the past two years the two companies have bid for a number of projects including the establishment of air quality monitoring systems.
This called for the setting up of a network of monitoring stations at industrial and urban sites throughout the city which will monitor emissions of various dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.
EUC is pursuing studies in hazardous waste management, particularly petrochemical waste; environmental impact assessment; environmental audits; hazard analysis and risk assessment and soil decontaminations.
