South Korean oil and gas companies have bid for blocks in the Phu Khanh basin, offshore central Vietnam, officials in Seoul said.
A consortium led by refiner SK Corp and Korea Gas has bid for a block located in the northern part of the oil-rich basin, an SK Corp official said.
Meanwhile, another consortium led by state-run Korea National Oil Corp, Kogas, and GS Holdings Corp-owner refiner GS-Caltex Corp, has bid for a southern block in the basin. The bids are part of Vietnam's 2004 licensing round in which state-owned PetroVietnam offered nine blocks in the Phu Khanh basin.
PetroVietnam will pick the winners of the blocks after two to three months of due diligence, South Korean officials said.
