Rosneft plans to shut its 240,000-barrel per day Tuapse refinery in November and December to carry out major maintenance, four industry sources told Reuters on Thursday.

Maintenance is planned from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, two of the sources said, while one source added that the works may continue until the end of December.

Tuapse refinery is focused on production of export products such as naphtha and high-sulphur gasoil, which means its maintenance may cause a shortfall in supplies of these products to the Black Sea and Mediterranean markets, the sources said.

Maintenance will also leave up to 1 million tonnes per month of extra crude oil for Rosneft, which will likely result in higher oil exports from Russia in November and December, two of the sources added.

Rosneft did not immediately reply to a Reuters request for comment.

Tuapse refinery has one CDU-12 unit with a capacity of 240,000 barrels per day.

Last time Rosneft carried out major maintenance on Tuapse refinery was in early 2019.

Between January and July Tuapse's throughput was 5.78 million tonnes of oil.

The plant produced 1.835 million tonnes of high-sulphur gasoil, 1.063 million tonnes of naphtha and 2.125 million tonnes of fuel oil, Refinitiv Eikon data showed. --Reuters
