China is expected to significantly increase its polyethylene production capacity by 2030, contributing about a quarter of the global capacity additions.

GlobalData’s report predicts a total polyethylene capacity addition of 14.08 million tonnes per annum from 34 planned and six announced projects between 2025 and 2030.

The highest capacity addition is expected from Zhejiang Petrochemical Daishan Polyethylene Plant 7 (Swing), with production expected in 2029.

Other significant capacity additions include Donghua Energy Maoming Polyethylene Plant 1 and 2, Fujian Sinopec Aramco Refining and Petrochemical Zhangzhou Polyethylene Plant 2, and BASF Zhanjiang Polyethylene Plant.
