NCR Corporation has launched  NCR SelfServ, a family of innovative, automated teller machines (ATMs) designed to help drive more revenue by enabling easier introduction of services on ATMs at more locations.

Besides this, it also delivers the highest ATM availability levels resulting in greater consumer satisfaction, said a top official.

'NCR SelfServ is the first ATM family that allows the full range of banking ATM services to be delivered at every location. Such flexibility makes it easier for financial institutions to reach more customers with more ATM services such as bulk cash, recycling and bill payment,' Stelios Fragkos, vice president for NCR in Middle East and Africa, said.

'NCR SelfServ is also the only ATM to use secure USB technology, which means that modules needed to deliver future services on ATMs can be added quickly, without compromising the security of the ATM,' he added.

Fragkos said NCR continues its strong leadership in the region by focusing on customers’ needs for leading financial and retail self-service solutions.

'We therefore remain committed to providing our customers with innovative solutions that will give them a real competitive edge in today’s very aggressive global market.'

Future technologies, such as contactless card and mobile payment systems, will be more easily integrated with NCR SelfServ ATMs, so improving convenience for consumers and creating further revenue generation opportunities for banks.

This “self-healing” capability means that software and USB communications failures that would have taken up to four hours for a technician to fix can now be resolved automatically in less than 20 minutes.

NCR SelfServ ATMs can also use NCR’s patented two-sided thermal printers to reduce the amount of paper consumed.

In combination, these innovations result in overall ATM availability improvements that could result in a bank being able to serve 16,000 more customers each year for every 100 ATMs on their network.

They use  Intel Core 2 Duo processors, which provide improved performance at lower power consumption.  The use of LED lighting not only saves power but also eliminates maintenance visits in contrast to fluorescent lighting systems.

A 25 percent reduction in the physical cabling over previous generations of ATMs also helps reduce power wastage and allows for improved speed of service calls, Fragkos added.-TradeArabia News Service
