Geren quits oil firm
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation said Preston M “Pete” Geren has resigned from the company’s board of directors in order to accept an appointment as acting secretary of the US Air Force.
His resignation became effective from July 28.
“Anadarko is very appreciative of the many years Pete has served as an active member of our board,” Anadarko president and CEO Jim Hackett said. “As a businessman, lawyer and former member of Congress, Pete brought a unique perspective to his position which I believe served our board and shareholders well. We are honoured to have had the occasion to work with him, and we are grateful that he has accepted this tremendous opportunity to serve our country,” he added.
In 1997, Pete Geren was appointed to the Board of Union Pacific Resources where he served until it was acquired by Anadarko in 2000, at which time he joined Anadarko’s board.
Anadarko’s operational focus extends from the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, up through Texas, Louisiana, the Mid-Continent, western US and Canadian Rockies and onto the North Slope of Alaska. Anadarko also has production in Algeria, Venezuela and Qatar.
