Axens has launched the ERA (Ethanol to Refuel Aviation) project, France’s first industrial-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility using advanced bioethanol. 

The plant, planned with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year, is expected to begin operations in 2030. 

Currently in the engineering phase, the project will use Axens and IFPEN’s Jetanol technology to produce SAF from European biomass feedstocks.
