Background

Package 12 of the Marjan Oilfield Expansion involves the construction of power and water supply facilities for a plant that processes 2,500 million standard cu ft of gas per day (MMSCFD). Aramco plans to develop its gas-driven fields such as Marjan offshore field. Marjan oil field delivers a high volume of associated gas and the new oil capacity will replace in time declines in oil capacity from other fields elsewhere. Marjan is estimated to have the capacity to produce about 500,000 barrels per day of crude based on existing production facilities.Aramco's extensive operations, both offshore and onshore are expected to maintain production on the mature gulf fields over the next decade as hundreds of new wells will be required to be drilled to support other operations in nearby oil fields.

Project Status

As of September 2024, Hydro milling work by Gulf Strategic Partners Company (GSP) has been completed.

Project Scope

The scope of the project includes various utilities and infrastructure installations. Key components are the utilities flare, pipe rack facilities, and the installation of a wall nut shell filter. Non-electrical utilities will encompass the sanitary wastewater system and lube oil system units, as well as drainage and underground units.

Additionally, the project involves the construction of a central control building and central control room, along with an emergency control center and a process control unit. The installation of TGP telecommunication systems and the laying of high-pressure flare collection piping networks, including those for cryogenic services, are also part of the scope.

Low-pressure flare collection piping networks will be laid for both acid gas and hydrocarbons, as well as for tankage. The construction of the main pipe rack unit and the interconnecting piping between all Tanajib gas plant process areas is essential.

Moreover, the project includes the construction of a 230 kV main substation, the installation of flares, and the construction of firewater, instrument/utility air, nitrogen, cooling water, and steam systems. Finally, the project features the installation of an electrical distribution system (13.8 kV) and the distribution system from the two distribution substations to unit substations.
