Abu Dhabi will host a major international exhibition and conference on gas sector in December.
dmg world media has organised the Gastech 2006, the 22nd international conference and exhibition for the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries from December 4-7 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) and Emirates Palace.
The event will be hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and its group of companies.
In addition to the traditional elements of Gastech, this year’s event will see a number of firsts including the 2006 Excellence in Energy Awards, the Gastech IT Zone, Gastech and LNG Hosted Buyers Programme, GasTV Live, the 1st Gastech Open Golf Tournament, and Meet at the Oasis - an initiative designed to ensure that attendees can arrange onsite meetings in an effective way.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Adnec, said, “The gas business in Abu Dhabi will almost double in the next five years - a trend that is set to continue for many years to come. I am very pleased that this year’s Gastech will be in Abu Dhabi - right at the heart of the world’s gas industry.”
Simon Horgan, Adnec chief executive, said, “I am delighted that dmg world media has chosen to stage Gastec 2006 in Abu Dhabi.
“The emirate stands on the brink of an economic boom and high profile international exhibitions such as Gastech have a huge role to play in promoting the region and the opportunities that it provides to the wider world.”
While Gastech 2006 will be held in Adnec’s existing exhibition and conference facilities, Adnec is well under way with construction of a much larger exhibition complex.
When complete, it will include 57,000 sq m of gross exhibition floor space, a massive 21,000 sq m visitor concourse and 7,500 sq m of multi-purpose halls.
The new centre will also feature dedicated conference facilities for 1,200 people, banqueting areas and more than 30 high-specification meeting rooms.
