Background

Looking to increase gas production, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) plans to construct the second phase of the gas sweetening facility at booster station BS-171 located in West Kuwait. The booster station-171 comprises three new identical two stage compressor trains high and low-pressure (LP & HP), including gas & condensate dehydration trains. Each train are capable of processing 125 million Cubic Feet a Day (CF/D) of sour gas. The booster station feeding gas comes from the existing gathering centers 17, 27, 28 and the new gathering center 16. The new plant will remove the sour gas components (H2S and CO2) of the natural gas to produce a sweet and dry product gas stream for delivery to the KOC pipeline. It will treat a part of sour gas that is produced from West Kuwait facilities and is expected to deliver 120 million standard cubic feet per day of sweet gas (120 MMSCFD).
