The African Energy Chamber (AEC) is urging Opec member states and their allies to reverse global bans on fossil fuel financing and support Africa’s right to develop its oil and gas resources.

The AEC argues that developed nations are disproportionately restricted from upstream financing, while developed nations invest in natural gas.

The AEC calls for Opec countries to press the World Bank to lift financing restrictions, create a dedicated investment vehicle, and adopt a dual-track energy transition.
