Horizon revives Kombat Mine

Namibia’s Competition Commission has approved Horizon Corporation to acquire an 80 per cent stake in the Kombat Mine from Trigon Metals, a key step in resuming mining.

The transaction requires final authorisation from the TSX Venture Exchange.

The mine, a significant copper producer in Namibia, has been inactive for years due to equipment failures. Horizon’s planned investment of nearly NAD$1 billion ($57.8 million) aims to restart mining in 2026, creating hundreds of jobs and providing new opportunities for local suppliers and contractors.

The project focuses on local content and community empowerment, with Horizon’s investment focusing on youth employment and broader social development.
