State-run Oman Oil Company has bought a 3.06 per cent stake in Thai Olefins PCL, Thailand’s third largest olefins maker, at the market price, the Thai company said .
Oman Oil bought 25.11 million Thai Olefins shares from Bangkok Polyethylene PCL (BPE), making it into a long-term strategic partner of Thai Olefins.
It gave no financial details of the deal.
Earlier in November, Thai Olefins and its major shareholder, PTT PCL, jointly took over BPE, which held about 58.36 million (7.11 per cent) Thai Olefins shares.
Thai Olefins said BPE agreed to sell all its Thai Olefins shares to eliminate cross-shareholding and had sold 33.25 million shares, or 4.05 per cent, to PTT, Thailand’s top energy firm.
Thai Olefins, 49.99 per cent owned by PTT, produces olefins like ethylene and propylene.
