The UAE emirate of Abu Dhabi will become one of the world’s largest exporters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 2009, an official said.
“By 2009, Abu Dhabi will become one of the largest, if not the largest, LPG exporters in the world as the total production from the onshore facilities will double,” said Mohamed Juma Bin Juma, onshore division manager of exploration and production at Adnoc.
Juma said that Adnoc now manages an LPG output of 6.5 billion cubic feet per day. “Adnoc is seriously evaluating the development of sour gas reserves in Abu Dhabi ... studies are in progress to select an optimum development scheme that leverage applicable technology and best developing and operating producers and practices to minimise the cost and improve overall quality,” he added.
