Furmanite International, the technical services company geared to maximising asset uptime, is attending ADIPEC this year for the first time.

This comes with news of its range of technologies and expertise, including its newly extended hot tapping and line stopping services, and announcing its intention to open an office in the Middle East to service the Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Iran markets direct, as well as supporting its existing licensees operating in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.
Of particular interest will be Furmanite’s extended hot tapping and line stopping service, following its recent acquisition of Flowserve GSG including Ipsco, which saw the strengths of two key players combine.
These services are in high demand in the Middle East region, for temporary isolation of a section of line or plant to enable maintenance and modification work to be undertaken while operation continues uninterrupted.
In one instance, for example, a major hot tapping project in the region enabled 12 block valve stations suffering from corrosion to be removed and replaced along a 200km section of a critical large diameter main crude export line carrying 900,000 barrels per day, with no disruption to production or export, representing massive savings.
Furmanite is now able to offer hot tapping and line stopping at diameters to 72 inches (size on size and reduced branch taps), pressures over 100 bar, and temperatures at 370°C, as well as bespoke engineered solutions to meet specific application requirements, on-shore and subsea, all with the high quality and safety standards for which Furmanite is renowned.
The service is available both for one-off requirements, and for large scale projects requiring multiple simultaneous operations. Other services in the Furmanite portfolio include on-line pressure leak sealing, composite repairs, on-line valve testing (Trevitest) and valve repair, on-site machining, Pressurized Systems Integrity (PSI) Management and controlled bolting, and SmartShim chocking, among others.
Details of these services, including Furmanite’s newly expanded hot tapping and line stopping expertise, will be available from the Furmanite stand at ADIPEC, number G12a.
