Keppel Marine & Offshore is one of the exhibitors

Conoco Phillips is the latest addition to the line-up of oil and gas heavyweights taking part in Offshore Southeast Asia (OSEA 2006), to be held at the Suntec City Convention Centre in Singapore from December 5 to 8.

The surge in oil rig demand and increased investment in upstream activities have boosted the growth of the oil and gas trade show which registered a 12 per cent increase in the number of exhibiting companies, from 898 to around 1,000 exhibiting companies from 48 countries.
Tee Boon Teong, project director (engineering events) with organiser Singapore Exhibition Services, said knowledge-sharing is key in driving advancements in oil exploratory techniques and technology, as well as developing a sustainable energy consumption strategy for this precious dwindling resource.
“Oil and gas platforms like OSEA set the stage for constructive technology and market intelligence exchange, as well as networking opportunities,” Tee said.
“This is all the more relevant in view of Asia’s voracious energy demand.
“OSEA2006 addresses the energy needs of the Asian market and gathers innovative solutions relevant to the oil and gas sector,” Tee said.
The biennial event which has been running since 1976, attracts oil and gas key players, governments and investors.
The Minister for Business and Economic Development from Australia, Konstantine (Kon) Vatskalis, will be attending OSEA to promote opportunities for gas exploration in the Timor Sea, as well as the Northern Territory as an offshore business location for the support industry in oil and gas.
Apart from Australia, national groups, governments, and national oil companies from China, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, United Kingdom, the United States, Timor Leste, and Kuwait, will be at the show.
Market leaders exhibiting at OSEA this year include Areva, Bartec, Fugro, Veripos, Technip, Global Process Systems, ABS, Aqua-Terra Supply Co, Ltd, Bluewater Energy, GE Supply, Converteam, J Ray McDermott, Keppel Marine & Offshore, Kiswire, Kongsberg Maritime, KS Energy Services, Haskel,  Radio Holland, and Rico.
This is an opportunity for countries converging on the show floor to have an open dialogue, exchange information, and source for the latest hardware and technologies to optimise oil production.
At the show, companies will collaborate and seek new investments in exploration projects.
David Campbell, deputy high commissioner and director, Trade & Investment, British High Commission, Singapore, said:
“OSEA is one of the most comprehensive regional oil and gas events and an extremely useful platform for forming strategic partnerships, networking, pursuing opportunities and gaining access to latest technological innovations.
