AVEVA provides IT solutions to the oil and gas industry

AVEVA, a leading provider of plant design and engineering lifecycle solutions, has announced that National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), a global oil and gas EPC contractor, has chosen AVEVA Plant Design Management solutions for use on its part of the Umm Shaif redevelopment project for ADMA OPCO.

NPCC, whose facilities are located at Mussafah near Abu Dhabi city, provides clients with total Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services in the development of offshore and onshore oil and gas fields for the Arabian Gulf and the regional markets.
AVEVA PDMS will initially be used for the ADMA OPCO offshore platform project that NPCC is working on. NPCC’s involvement comprises two new well head towers (namely US 40/56 and US 40/24) located in the Umm Shaif field, plus two new  24-inch sub sea pipelines, each starting from the new well head to the existing Umm Shaif Super Complex (USSC).
AVEVA PDMS is used by NPCC’s Engineering section, which has multi-discipline capabilities to handle large offshore and onshore projects, from front end design to construction engineering. NPCC Engineering utilises the state-of-the-art industry standard software in various disciplines for the execution of projects.
Dr Ahmad Kurdali, engineering manager of NPCC, said, “We are going to use PDMS throughout all phases of the project. After the 3D modeling and design, the design drawings and isometrics will be generated by PDMS.
“We will also be integrating the PDMS model with the structural steel detailing software to optimise the production of fabrication drawings.”
Louay Dahmash, regional director of AVEVA said, “PDMS has proven yet again that it offers clients the flexibility and efficiency that is required by design solutions.  We are proud to be working with NPCC on this project and look forward to assisting them with future projects.”
AVEVA Group plc is one of the world’s foremost and fastest-growing lifecycle engineering IT solutions and services providers to the oil and gas, paper and pulp, power, chemical, pharmaceutical and shipbuilding industries.
The Group has grown consistently since 1967 on the strength of pioneering engineering technology that protects the information assets of its customers from the volatile nature of the IT industry.
The Group’s history of innovation spans five decades and has produced most of today’s major engineering IT technologies.
Serving over 1,500 clients, AVEVA has a dominant position in many market sectors both on and offshore.
In May 2004, the Group acquired Tribon Solutions AB, the market-leading shipbuilding solution company and now serves 85 per cent of the world’s top 20 shipbuilders.
The Group’s clients include leading plant owner operators, shipbuilders and engineering contractors.
Headquartered in Cambridge, England, AVEVA Group plc and its operating subsidiaries currently employ more than 500 staff worldwide with offices in England, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea, UAE and the US.
AVEVA PDMS is a datacentric, multi-disciplinary solution for 3D process plant design, featuring applications and reference data for every engineering discipline. It differs from conventional 3D approaches in not requiring a drawing engine but producing graphics directly from a single, coherent data model of the entire plant.
First launched in 1976, AVEVA PDMS’s architecture was designed to evolve, and has done so through many leading operating systems during the progress of the IT industry. The system offers compatibility with all previous versions and many other leading industry systems.
AVEVA also announced an alliance to integrate laser scanning technology and plant design software capabilities.
INOVx’s RealityLINx Exchange product is being integrated with market-leading AVEVA PDMS using AVEVA Laser Model Interface.
Recent advances in laser scan technology have made the use of laser scan point cloud data much more viable in the plant industries.  Engineering project teams benefit very substantially from close interoperation of laser scan data with 3D CAD plant design systems like PDMS.
This partnership provides a cost-effective integrated solution with the potential to reduce plant downtime on revamp and retrofit projects by combining the power of RealityLINx with the global reach of AVEVA PDMS.
RealityLINx Exchange incorporates new functionality for rendering laser scan point cloud data in 3D CAD environments.
INOVx PlantLINx and RealityLINx software provide best-in-class capability for modelling from laser scan point clouds and subsequently providing Virtualisation for industrial operations and maintenance.
“INOVx has long been a leader in the application of laser scanning technology.  We are happy to extend RealityLINx point cloud functionality to work with the leading 3D design modelling software from AVEVA,” said Costantino Lanza, CEO of INOVx.
“The AVEVA Laser Model Interface provides a perfect fit to make sure our products dovetail together.”
“AVEVA’s as-built strategy provides open access to laser scan point cloud data in PDMS, irrespective of the laser scan technology used in the plant survey.  This partnership recognises INOVx as one of the leading laser scanning solution providers in the market today. We are very pleased to be coupling our products together for the mutual benefit of our customers,” said Richard Longdon, CEO of AVEVA.
“Interoperability is vital to smooth operation of industrial software.  Customers are demanding it.  Seeing AVEVA and INOVx work together is good for the industry and good for their mutual customers,” said Houghton LeRoy of ARC Advisory Group.
