A management system developed by Scottish-based Real Time Engineering Limited is helping LNG cargoes to be delivered into the UK gas network at the Isle of Grain terminal, near Sheerness in the south-east of England, by joint capacity holders and shippers BP and Sonatrach.
Real Time, the leading IT and business solutions consultancy headquartered in Glasgow and with an office in Aberdeen, successfully delivered to the joint shippers a LNG nomination and inventory management system that replicates the contractual relationship between the parties and interfaces with the physical LNG systems of Grain LNG, the terminal operator.
The terminal, which is the first of the new LNG import terminals planned for the UK, provides re-gasification facilities to turn the LNG back into gas for delivery into the UK gas network. This type of facility is likely to become increasingly important to the UK as its ability to meet future gas demand using North Sea reserves diminishes.
The joint shippers required the Real Time LNG Management System to enable a third party to act as their agent to manage the operational and commercial aspects of importing LNG and delivering gas into the UK market.
Alec Harley, Real Time’s oil and gas manager, said, “We’re delighted that our solution has been selected to assist in the facilitation of LNG imports into the UK. We have successfully met the specific requirements of the technical and commercial specifications, in addition to hitting the demanding timescales, and minimising risks throughout the project.”
Real Time also provides ongoing support of the system ensuring system availability and uptime is maximised. Real Time Engineering is one of the UK’s independent providers of business consultancy and IT solutions supporting energy and utilities and oil and gas sectors.
