ِBU Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco) has invited international companies to bid for two separate contracts; the first being the front-end engineering and design (Feed) and the second for the project management consultancy (PMC) for the Development of Asab, Bab and Bu Hasa and Ruwais Modifications Project.
At least five international companies were invited for bidding, including Engineers India Limited, Tebodin from the Netherlands, Technip from France and the American/Canadian Company Veco in addition to Worley Parsons from Australia.
The project aims to increase oil and gas handling capacity as a result of the expected increase in the onshore oil production and the high sulphur content in the currently produced gas and to cater for the expansion projects in Shah and Asab fields that Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco) is undertaking.
The project has been divided into four phases. The first phase includes the installation of gas compression unit with 3 gas turbines, each with 40 per cent capacity. This phase also includes the debottlenecking of Asab Gas Plant, rerouting the feed gas to Asab gas complex and the replacement of existing gas pipelines. In Bu Hasa field, the scope of work includes facilities for injection of sour gas through the installation of new pipelines to transport the sour gas for injection in the sour gas reservoirs into Bab and Thammama fields and transporting the sweet gas from Bab field to Bu Hasa field for use as fuel by Gasco and Adco.
At Bab field, the scope of works includes the debottlenecking of sour gas processing plant to increase the sour gas processing capacity.
The Ruwais Project includes the debottlenecking of the sulphur handling unit in Trains 1 and 2 to increase their sulphur extracting capacity by 30 tonnes per day through the use of a new technology, licensed by Mobile Exxon of the US. Natural Gas storage facilities will be constructed to allow interconnection of all systems. The EPC documents will be ready by 2008.
