Bahrain-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has achieved a major milestone of exporting 7,193 tonnes of petrochemical products to the US, said a report.
The shipment was sent via the vessel MV Stolt Sneland. GPIC exports more than 1.1 million tonnes (mt) of ammonia, urea and methanol products every year to various world markets including the US, Australia, South America, India, Thailand and other countries.
Adviser for Industrial and Oil Affairs to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister and GPIC chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa as well as company president Abdul Rahman Jawahery congratulated the company’s executive management and all employees on the achievement.
“GPIC enjoys a reputation as one of the recognised suppliers of high-quality products all over the world,” remarked Jawahery.
“The company’s urea export jetty has a first-class certificate given by AQIS of Australia. This certificate is awarded for meeting the most stringent levels for ensuring the safety of products exported to the Australian markets,” he stated.
“It also represents an added value to the petrochemical products in various world markets,” he added.
Since 1985, the company has exported a total of 26.8 mt of ammonia, urea and methanol carried by 2,000 ships to various destinations worldwide. Jawahery expressed his thanks to the management and staff of Bapco for providing ship handling services and facilitating ammonia and methanol exports through the Bapco offshore jetty. Meanwhile, the company also reported it won the British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Shield for the chemicals sector for the third time in a row. Jawahery received the award from RoSPA president Lord Bill Jordan at an event in Birmingham, UK.
