Statoil was well positioned to achieve its key targets

Norwegian energy group Statoil plans to squeeze more out of its operations in Norway -- the bedrock of its business -- and repeated its 2006 and 2007 oil and gas production targets.

Statoil aims to produce 1.2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day on average worldwide in 2006, and raise output to 1.4 million boed in 2007.
It extended by five years its goal of maintaining Norwegian output at 1 million barrels a day until 2015.
Chief executive Helge Lund told analysts and reporters at a presentation that Statoil was well positioned to achieve its key targets.
"We are maintaining a high production level on the (Norwegian continental shelf) in parallel with growing our international assets," Lund said.
Lund said the company would hit its target of doubling gas production by 2015 – a goal announced a year ago -- and of adding 1.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent of new resources in 2005-2007.
"We now believe that it may be possible to extend our plateau production on the Norwegian continental shelf until 2015," Statoil ASA said in a statement.
