Background

The Gas Processing Facility Package is part of the Jafurah gas terminal that will process up to 1.1 billion cu ft per day (Bcf/D) of unconventional (shale) raw gas from nearby areas, producing sales gas, ethane, natural gas liquids and condensate. The Jafurah gas plant is expected to be a key element of Aramco's long-term strategy to boost its unconventional gas production to 3 Bcf/D during the next decade.

Project Scope

The project scope for the gas processing facility package includes two trains, each handling about 550 million cubic feet per day of raw gas.

The process units would include: gas separation, acid gas removers, NGL equipment and associated surface facilities required for the gas plant.

Other works involve, Installation of inlet gas slug catcher, Installation of inlet condensate separator, Installation of coalescer feed pumps, booster compressors, construction of emergency diesel generator building, construction of process interface building, construction of chemical storage shelter, construction of OME building and sub-stations.

Project Status

As of January 2024, Samsung Engineering has awarded Velosi a contract to conduct a RBI (Risk Based Inspection) study of the static equipment, piping system, and PZVs within two trains of gas processing at the Jafurah GPF project.
