Egypt boasts a rich history of gold mining dating back to the Pharaonic era. Despite this legacy, Sukari remains the country's only modern commercial gold mine.
However, Egypt’s Eastern Desert is now poised to become a prime exploration target for global mining companies, with vast untapped mineral and precious metal resources awaiting discovery.
Increased exploration efforts are expected to yield commercial discoveries, positioning the industry as a substantial contributor to Egypt’s economy.
Consequently, the Egyptian government has launched multiple bid rounds over the past year, granting exploration licenses to domestic and international businesses.
With ambitions to establish itself as a world-class trading hub for minerals and metals by 2040, Egypt aims to develop a sustainable and environmentally responsible green mining value chain.
Last year, the event welcomed over 4,000 attendees over two days. The multi-faceted agenda addressed Egypt’s path to becoming the next major exploration destination for mining companies, providing attendees with invaluable insights and opportunities for relationship-building under the theme ‘Building Upon 120 Years of Geological Discoveries for a Decarbonised and Sustainable Future’.
A global exhibition showcasing more than 100 products and solutions at the forefront of operational excellence in mining featured over 68 international exhibitors.
These exhibitors presented critical solutions to modernise the region’s mining industry and responsibly harness Egypt’s mining sector potential.
