Major Eni discoveries in Africa

Energy major Eni announced two major African hydrocarbon discoveries in February 2026.

In Ivory Coast, the Murene South 1X well in Block CI 501 confirmed the Calao South discovery, estimated at 5 Tcf of gas and 450 million barrels of condensate.

In Angola, the Algaita 01 well in Block 15/06 revealed 500 million barrels of oil near existing infrastructure, enabling rapid development.

These discoveries advance Eni’s dual strategy of opening new frontiers and strengthening production in established markets.

Together, they support domestic energy needs, regional gas-to-power growth, and long-term production stability across Africa.
