FMF will feature a ministerial roundtable on mineral cooperation

Saudi Arabia will host the sixth edition of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) from January 12 to 14, 2027, in Riyadh.

Held under the theme “Global Collaboration for Resilient Mineral Supply Chains,” FMF 2027 will focus on mobilising investment, accelerating mining project development and expanding mineral supply chains in Saudi Arabia and emerging supplier regions across Africa, West and Central Asia, and Latin America.

The forum’s fifth edition, held in January 2026, attracted 21,500 participants from 175 countries, alongside senior government representatives from 91 countries and more than 64 governmental and non-governmental organisations.

It resulted in 132 agreements and memoranda of understanding worth more than $26.7 billion, bringing the cumulative total across five editions to 398 agreements valued at over $75.2 billion.

The 2027 programme will feature a ministerial roundtable bringing together government officials, industry leaders, financial institutions and other stakeholders to advance cooperation across the minerals value chain.

Expanded investment activities will connect investors with projects and financing opportunities, while sector outlook sessions will examine commodity markets and emerging trends.

The announcement comes amid significant growth in Saudi Arabia’s mining sector. Exploration expenditure rose from $54.7 million in 2020 to a record $362.7 million in 2025, while the number of active exploration companies increased from six to 191.

Saudi Arabia has also reported estimated resources of 114 million tonnes of ore containing high concentrations of rare earth elements, particularly heavy rare earth elements, at the Jabal Sayid project in the Madinah Region, alongside promising uranium concentrations.
