Following the African Energy Chamber’s (AEC) February 2026 visit to Venezuela, Venezuela sent Deputy Minister Arturo Gil to South Africa to strengthen energy collaboration.

High-level meetings in Cape Town, including NJ Ayuk, AEC Executive Chairman, and James Chester, Energy Capital & Power CEO, focused on investment, technical cooperation, and workforce development.

Initiatives include specialised training at Venezuela’s University of Hydrocarbons, knowledge transfer on oil and gas expertise, and leveraging Venezuelan resources to support Africa’s energy access.
