A new kind of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder valve is being recommended for use by the public utilities authority in east China's Nanchang, Jiangxi Province.

The valve not only provides a higher guarantee of safety when in use, but also enables carbon-compound residues in the cylinder to be fully burned, the company  claims.
As a result, the utilization period for each cylinder of LPG, which contains 15 kg of gas, is prolonged by eight to twelve hours, according to Xinxi Ribao.

Usually, the last two to three kilograms of liquid fuel in each cylinder are not able  to be used because the technical design of the old valve makes it impossible for the liquid carbon fuel to be burned together with LPG

An average cylinder of LPG in Nanchang costs around RMB 50 -75 (USD 6.04-9.06), sources claim.
With the new valve, the two types of liquid can be burned together and waste of fuel can be prevented.
There are currently 500,000 LPG cylinders in use in Nanchang.
