APS has invested heavily in plant, equipment and technical expertise.

Anticorrosive Protective Systems (APS) has been providing high technology corrosion engineering products and services for more than 23 years.

Headquartered in Dubai with a branch operation in Abu Dhabi, APS undertakes projects throughout the Arabic-speaking world, from the eastern Mediterranean through to the Indian Ocean.

Recently APS expanded its geographic scope to cover the former CIS states including Azerbaijan and Georgia.

The initial focus for APS was in providing corrosion protection systems for the oil and gas industry in the UAE, but its capabilities have expanded to cover the construction industry and the water, power and desalination industry.

Recognising that meeting the complex requirements of industry is impossible without the right resources, APS has invested heavily in plant, equipment and technical expertise to provide a range of specialised services whatever the client's requirement, from onshore to offshore, topsides, splash zone or sub sea environments and from major projects to emergency callouts.

Since the 1980s the firm has provided neoprene cladding for risers for practically all major offshore oil and gas operators, all of which are still functioning well after more than 25 years of use without replacement.

For APS, its client's performance depends on having the finest products to support them - products that not only meet their specialist needs, but whose quality and excellence can be relied upon.

To that end APS is associated with some of the world's leading manufacturers of high- performance coating, linings and fireproofing compounds and focuses on providing the most cost- effective solutions that last.

Over the last five years, APS has undertaken a number of pipeline "swageing" contracts as the only local contractor for the British Gas swageing system.

In this process HDPE liners are compressed through a circular die and then drawn through corroded pipes in 500m lengths.

As the HDPE has a 'memory' the liner will then expand to its former size to form a tight fit with the inside circumference of the pipe effectively sealing the original from internal corrosion and providing a smooth and anticorrosive surface for the liquid or gas to flow through.

APS is completing a full relining of a 22 km length of 16" gas pipe for the Abu Dhabi Municipality.

The renovated pipeline will now be used for irrigation water.

APS has just completed a 22 km pipelining pull through for Qatar Petroleum (QP) and much of the retrofit pipelining in Qatar to date has been done by APS.

The company is also approved by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and has completed an 11 km pipeline in Oman.

In addition to protective coatings and liners, APS also offers extensive impressed current cathodic protection systems for civil structures and pipelines.

This integrated approach to corrosion engineering has enabled APS to secure a large contract for cathodic protection and field jointing services for Technip - Al Jaber Fujairah to Al Ain water pipeline project in the UAE.

To complete its portfolio of corrosion protection products and services, APS also offers specialist non-destructive testing and corrosion detection services and underwater survey services.

The combination of APS's technical skills and market knowledge has put the company in a prime position to act for principals promoting technically oriented capital equipment in the region.

As Graham Young, managing director of APS says, "with our offices in the Emirates and network of distributors throughout the Middle East, APS offers a range of trading and resourcing services that are not only unrivalled in their quality but also provide the support essential to all our clients' operating success."
