Global Process Systems (GPS), with operations in Dubai, Malaysia, the Russian Federation and Texas, undertakes complete supply within battery limits of any process-based equipment, plant or package system.

The firm is able to design, engineer, fabricate and test as well as enable process performance and mechanical guarantees for clients in the Middle East, Asia and further afield.

Its projects range from major multimillion dollar offshore turnkey platform modification for a multinational client for a project in the Middle East, to the supply of skid- mounted separator packages for a client in North Africa.

Process simulators help in its in-house process design capability as well as with programmes developed within GPS itself.

Process equipment deliveries range from the design of a single process separator to complete plants.

Turnkey packages in the areas for offshore and onshore process equipment and plants include engineering and fabrication of natural gas processing and treatment systems; design and supply of crude oil separation systems and floating production storage systems (FPSO) based topside process equipment.

GPS says that it performs all design work in-house using qualified and experienced engineers using the latest computer-aided design, drafting and system developments technology for the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.

With an extensive knowledge of process systems, GPS claims to be able to supply cost-effective solutions for the most complex problems.

Recently, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Rentech Inc, the developer and licensor of a patented and proprietary Fischer-Tropsch gas-to-liquids process to cooperate in providing a technology license and engineering services for the application of Rentech's gas-to-liquids (GTL) process technology on (FPSO) for the conversion of offshore, stranded natural gas into valuable liquid hydrocarbons on a worldwide basis.

Under the MOU, both companies agree to cooperate to jointly market their combined capabilities to potential customers on a worldwide basis.

This would provide licensing and engineering services for topside process work and build-out involving Rentech's GTL technology including design, procurement, construction, project technical development and estimating services as required for each project.

The aim is to target a variety of prospective stranded natural gas offshore projects where Rentech's GTL process could be utilised. Estimated GTL plant sizes could range from 2,500 to 10,000 barrels per day of GTL.

"There is growing interest among oil and gas producers in applying gas-to-liquids technology to process stranded offshore gas that was previously flared, a practice which is now banned", says Clint Elgar, president of Global Process Systems Inc.

"Applying GTL in this manner provides an alternative option to injecting the gas. As an experienced process engineering firm focused in the oil and gas industry, we believe there is a substantial opportunity for GTL technology to be implemented in this manner.

"We are already actively pursuing specific inquiries and intend to provide topside GTL build-out for FPSO's as part of our overall service package."

Through its alliance with UAE-based specialist fabricator, Lamprell Energy Ltd, GPS has access to topside fabrication facilities at Lamprell's Jebel Ali facility, which has been built for the purpose of producing modular FPSO process units and GTL topsides.
