Part of the GMMOS Group, Grandweld is located in the Dubai ship docking yard at A1 Jadaf which has a syncrolift complex with a lift capability of 5,000 tonnes x 110 metres length overall.

The site is a 15 minutes' drive from Port Rashid and 30 minutes from Jebel Ali Port.

Grandweld also provides customers with a full range of ship repair services, including an immediate response to all their marine requirements. Repair facilities can accomodate dry docking, structural steel renewal, engine overhaul, laser alignment and shaft repair.

The firm also specialises in aluminium fabrication and welding with a pool of highly trained and motivated and class-approved welders and fabricators.

Grandweld is supported by several suppliers who can supply aluminium of any kind and grade with a minimum delivery time. They have carried out major aluminium ship building and hull repairs and established themselves in the field of aluminium repairs in the UAE, with experience ranging from electrical repair, interior outfitting and carpentry, to hull and tank coating.

A full range of steel and other alloy materials is also kept in stock for ship construction.

MIG/TIG, stick and gravity metal arc welding routines are used in the yard.

Grandweld is certified to weld special steel and non-ferrous metals, and internal quality control of all welding is practised. All welders are tested and qualified to code before they are allowed to carry-out jobs on board vessels, says Grandweld.

During the past decades Grandweld has built up a highly qualified and professional division which is trained and dedicated to working on yachts and leisure crafts. Experience in this area has in the past included work on patrol boats, work boats, yachts and aluminium hull vessels.

As well direct services, Grandweld also provides tanker, gas carrier and dry cargo vessel afloat repair and maintenance services at all ports and riding squads.

Specialised teams of engineers are qualified to undertake steel fabrication, piping installation and mechanical repairs to main engines, auxiliary and deck machinery, pumps, turbines and hydraulic systems. The firm also undertakes a range of electrical repairs and installation in addition to the repair and overhaul of refrigerators and air conditioning plants.

Boiler repairs of both a major and minor nature are handled by a structured team. The growing demand of gas- carrier repairs has caused the company to become heavily involved and experienced in the rebuilding of gas carriers and in gas carrier field technology.

Grandweld's electrical division provides design, installation and maintenance services for new buildings, conversions and marine repair activities.

The mechanical workshop houses an extensive range of state-of-the-art machinery equipment which includes boring machines, lathe machines, balancing machines and many others. It is also equipped with state of the art equipment for stern tube in position line boring and laser alignment of shafts.

The experienced workforce has the ability to handle all types of mechanical repairs such as overhauling of gearboxes, CCP / propellers, tail shafts, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, engines and steering gears.

Grandweld has classification society approval for propeller repairs, including damaged or broken propellers, fairing dented blades, profile matching and renewal of damaged sections.

Grandweld's engineering department provides design and engineering services for new buildings, conversions, up-grading and refurbishing projects.
