Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp has restarted a 150,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) crude distillation unit (CDU) following an unplanned shutdown, an industry source said.

The island’s second-biggest refiner shut the 150,000-bpd CDU after a pipeline leak.
“Now everything was onstream. Formosa is now aiming for full capacity,” the source said.
The refinery, located in Mailiao in western Taiwan, has a total capacity of 450,000 bpd. It has three CDUs, each with a 150,000-bpd capacity, and processes a mix of mainly high-sulphur Middle East crudes.
