Singapore Refining Co (SRC) has restarted on schedule the 135,000 barrels per day (bpd) No 2 crude distillation unit at its 285,000 bpd Pulau Merlimau refinery after a planned turnaround, a trader said.
The unit was shut since July 17 for a three-week general overhaul, sources said.
“The No 2 CDU was oiled in on August 5 and it is currently running at low rates,” the trader added.
“SRC would hike crude throughput at this CDU flat out soon.”
Once the CDU is fully online, overall crude runs at SRC would be raised to around 88 per cent levels (or 250,000 bpd), against the existing 60-70 per cent rates.
Meanwhile, SRC has also restarted the 10,000 bpd No 1 hydrocracker but it would require a few more days before SRC could run the unit flat out.
“The catalyst in the hydrocracker needs some time to run in after a general maintenance,” one trader explained.
SRC is equally owned by Singapore Petroleum Co and ChevronTexaco.
