Mouchel Parkman wins services deal
Mouchel Parkman's ports and coastal business has been awarded a framework contract to provide a range of advisory services to EDF (ةlectricité de France).
The ports team will be working alongside EDF on a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) importation facility in Dunkerque, Northern France. Once committed to construction, the terminal – of strategic importance to the security of gas and power supply in Northern Europe – could develop into one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
EDF approached Mouchel Parkman with an invitation to provide best practice advice on managing the marine aspects of the terminal; Mouchel Parkman has experience of working for major clients on energy terminal projects in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Mexico, UK and India.
Sean Barker, head of Mouchel Parkman's ports team, says: “We will be advising and representing EDF during its negotiations with its partner, the Port of Dunkerque, on how to scope and implement a complex series of inter-related marine studies. This will culminate in an optimised agreement as to how the project will proceed.”
Sean adds: “We have complemented our marine technical knowledge through Roger Fullbrook, who has extensive experience in business process modelling for the oil and gas industry. Roger is leading the development of the project road map, which will embrace the list of aspects to be investigated, the logic of the inter-relationship between the different studies and the scoping of the different elements. Additionally Prof Keith Davies, who lectures at the University of Plymouth, will be advising on critical port design and operational aspects.”
Advice on navigation and mooring will be provided by sub-consultants Eagle Lyon and Pope.
Mouchel Parkman is a professional support services group, which helps clients in the public sector and regulated industry to provide better everyday services to customers and communities.
Honeywell gets new contract
Honeywell said it had been awarded an automation and control design contract for the Nuon Magnum plant, a 1200 megawatt coal/biomass and natural gas power station planned in Eemshaven, the Netherlands.
Honeywell has proposed a range of solutions for automation and safety management at the plant, including its Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS). Once online in 2010 or 2011, the Nuon Magnum plant is expected to be one of the largest plants of its type in the world. The project will begin with a study phase, followed by an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase.
