Byrne’s enhanced camp solutions, expanded rental fleet and integration of sustainable technologies are strengthening its ability to support the evolving UAE market and ADNOC’s expansion plans.

A ready-to-deploy fleet, rapid mobilisation, a new service and maintenance depot near key oil and gas operating areas in Madinat Zayed, a broad product portfolio and strong compliance with ADNOC requirements positions Byrne as a leading equipment rental partner for industrial, construction and oil and gas projects.

ADNOC has unveiled a $150 billion investment plan through 2030 to accelerate oil and gas expansion.

This is expected to drive projects that are larger in scale and more complex, while placing greater emphasis on operational efficiency, rapid execution and sustainability.

Byrne Equipment Rental is responding by expanding its fleet, investing in new capabilities and developing more integrated solutions to meet these evolving market requirements.

In an interview with OGN energy magazine, Haroon Sarfraz, General Manager – Byrne Equipment Rental, says: “Customers are looking for more than equipment. They need reliable partners with local knowledge, technical capability and the ability to deliver complete solutions quickly, safely and efficiently.

“Our ambition is to provide customers with their equipment rental, temporary infrastructure and related service requirements through one platform, making their operations simpler, more efficient and easier to manage.”

Below are excerpts from the interview:

How is Byrne supporting new oil and gas multinational players entering the UAE market?

The UAE continues to attract international oil and gas companies, particularly as exploration and development activity expands.

New entrants often need to establish operations quickly in remote locations while navigating local regulatory, operational and logistical requirements.

Byrne combines ready fleet availability, local market knowledge, regulatory expertise and established operating capabilities to help customers establish and scale their operations efficiently.

Recently, for example, a multinational oil and gas company secured a new concession in the UAE.

Byrne supported the customer from establishing its initial site office in a remote desert location through to ongoing wellsite requirements and fully managed staff accommodation.

The entire requirement was delivered under a single master call-off agreement with agreed rates, providing the customer with one commercial and operational interface and reducing the complexity of managing multiple suppliers.

Our role is to simplify the customer's supply chain and provide the capability to scale as their operations develop.

What investments is Byrne making to support the growing oil and gas market?

We are making significant investments in fleet, infrastructure and technology to build capacity ahead of market demand.

Over the last two years, our UAE fleet has expanded by more than 35 per cent, and our objective is to increase it by approximately 70 per cent over the coming two years.

At the same time, we are introducing new product categories and integrated sustainable solutions.

The objective is to ensure that we have sufficient capacity across multiple product categories to support both routine field requirements and large-scale projects, including shutdowns and turnarounds where equipment availability is critical.

How important are safety and compliance in Byrne’s offering?

These are fundamental to our business.

Our equipment and solutions are developed to meet ADNOC and applicable oil and gas industry requirements, with configurations adapted to the specific operating environment.

Where required, we incorporate ATEX-compliant fittings and DNV-certified lifting points for hazardous and remote applications.

However, compliance goes beyond certification; it has to be embedded throughout the entire rental cycle, from equipment selection and preparation through mobilisation, operation, maintenance and demobilisation.

Byrne has also established a new service and maintenance depot in Madinat Zayed. What was the rationale behind this investment?

Proximity to the customer is increasingly important, particularly in remote oil and gas operations.

Our new Madinat Zayed service and maintenance depot brings technical and maintenance capabilities closer to key oil and gas operating areas in Abu Dhabi.

The facility is designed to support customers with faster access to maintenance, servicing and technical support.

What is Byrne’s capacity to support accommodation and temporary camp requirements?

Our capability has evolved from supplying individual accommodation units to delivering complete, fully managed temporary camps.

It includes accommodation modules, catering, cleaning, laundry, fuel, water and other life-support services, allowing customers to focus on their core operations while we manage the supporting camp infrastructure and services.

For new projects, shutdowns and turnarounds, speed of deployment can also be critical.

Byrne has the capability to setting up a fully serviced 300-person camp online in as little as 21 days, and a 60-person mini-camp in as little as 9 days.

How is Byrne integrating sustainability into its rental offering?

We see sustainability as an integrated part of the power solution rather than a separate product category.

We are expanding the use of solar power, solar lighting and battery energy storage systems (BESS) and combining these technologies with conventional generation according to the customer's load profile and operating requirements.

The objective is to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining the reliability, flexibility and cost-effectiveness required for oil and gas operations.

For example, hybrid configurations combining solar, BESS and conventional generation can reduce generator running hours and fuel consumption while retaining conventional generation as a dependable power source when required.

The focus is on practical sustainability, including solutions that deliver measurable operational and environmental benefits without compromising reliability or economics.

What is the broader vision for Byrne in the market?

Our ambition is to position Byrne as a long-term equipment rental and temporary infrastructure partner for the customers.

The market is becoming more sophisticated, and customers increasingly value suppliers that can combine scale, technical capability, speed of execution and operational accountability.

We are therefore investing across the business – in our people, fleet, infrastructure, technology and service capabilities – to ensure we can grow alongside our customers.
