Cameroon’s Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH) has launched its 2026 bid round, offering six exploration blocks across three sedimentary basins to attract investment and expand hydrocarbon development.

The acreage comprises Ndian River and Bakassi in the Rio del Rey Basin, Kombe-Nsepe and Bomono in the Douala/Kribi-Campo Basin, and Zina and Makary in the Logone Birni Basin. All six blocks have 2D seismic data coverage.

Pierre Eric Nkoa Nkoa, Deputy Exploration Manager at SNH, said bid submissions would remain open until May 28, 2027, with results expected in June 2027.

Across Africa, companies are seeking partners to fund seismic surveys, exploration drilling and field development.

In Somalia, SOMA Oil & Gas is seeking co-funding for 3D seismic surveys across three production-sharing agreements, while Sierra Leone’s FA Oil is seeking drilling partners for Licence 001/23.

Ghana offers further opportunities, with GeoPartners planning a large-scale 3D seismic survey in early 2027 and AMNI International offering participation in its 90 per cent interest in Offshore Central Tano.

Ivory Coast’s Harvex and Petroci are also seeking pre-funding for seismic acquisition on deepwater Block CI 604.

In Central Africa, Chad’s CGIP is seeking partners for drilling and field redevelopment, while Gabon has 26 blocks available across onshore and ultra-deepwater acreage.

Angola is also promoting exploration opportunities in the Kwanza Basin.

Southern African prospects include Namibia’s Orange Basin Block 2712A and gas development opportunities in South Africa’s Northern Karoo region.

Beyond Africa, Grenada is preparing a 2027 licensing round, while the UAE’s Sharjah National Oil Company is promoting gas discoveries and exploration acreage.
