Alfa Laval has begun integrating Desmet into its operations to strengthen its position in the oils, fats and biofuel industries, combining their technologies and capabilities to deliver more comprehensive process engineering solutions.
Alfa Laval acquired Desmet in 2022, including the RoseDowns and Stolz operational units and brands.
Desmet has operated as a separate entity since the acquisition, but will become a product and process technology brand within Alfa Laval once the integration is completed, which is expected by July 2027.
The integration will combine Desmet’s expertise in upstream extraction and processing with Alfa Laval’s technologies in separation, heat transfer and downstream processing.
The companies aim to provide integrated solutions covering the entire value chain, from seed to end product, supporting more sustainable and profitable production.
“By bringing our capabilities together, we can offer customers more integrated solutions, accelerate innovation and create even more value through the process. At the same time, we are preserving the specialist know-how and close customer relationships that Desmet is known for in the market today,” says Sammy Hulpiau, President of the Food & Pharma Division.
The combined business will also benefit from an expanded global sales, service and supply network, supported by local teams in more than 150 countries.
Alfa Laval said the broader offering would help simplify project execution and reduce complexity for customers operating in competitive markets.
The integration will be implemented in phases to maintain continuity for customers, partners and ongoing projects.
Desmet will be incorporated into Alfa Laval’s Business Unit Process Engineering Solutions within its Food & Pharma Division.
