Chinese group TBEA has won the bid from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for the construction of a new 380/132kV substation in the kingdom's Namria region as well as expansion of two existing substations in the surrounding areas.

The first Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6)-free gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation in Saudi Arabia, the Namria substation project marks a significant milestone in the kingdom’s commitment to sustainable energy infrastructure and environmental responsibility.

The Namria Wind 380/132kV Bulk Supply Point (BSP) project will play a vital role in the kingdom's power infrastructure by connecting the main artery of clean energy in the kingdom's northern region.

The scope of work for TBEA includes design, supply, installation and commissioning for the substation project.

After completion, the substation will serve as a core hub, dedicated to collecting and transmitting green electricity produced by the wind power base in northern Saudi Arabia.

The Namria substation project is an important part of breaking through this bottleneck, which will greatly enhance the carrying capacity and stability of the regional power grid, ensuring that green electricity can be efficiently and reliably connected to the national backbone power grid, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
