KBR to support SAF plant development on Singapore’s Jurong Island

KBR has been selected to provide technology licensing and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services for a proposed Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island, developed by Keppel Infrastructure Division and Aster Chemicals and Energy.

The project will use KBR’s PureSAF technology, originally developed by Swedish Biofuels, engineered for commercial-scale production by KBR, and exclusively licensed globally by the company.

The planned facility is expected to produce up to 100,000 tons of SAF annually, pending final investment decision and regulatory approvals.

Keppel and Aster earlier announced their partnership to evaluate the development of the plant as part of Singapore’s wider energy transition efforts.

In addition, KBR has signed a Memorandum of Intent with Keppel’s Infrastructure Division to explore broader collaboration in decarbonisation technologies.

This includes areas such as waste-to-energy, plastic recycling, biofuels, sustainable aviation fuel development, and AI-driven digitalisation, reinforcing efforts to advance low-carbon industrial solutions.

“We are looking forward to working with Keppel and Aster on this key project and to support Singapore’s ambition of becoming Asia’s leading SAF hub and advancing the ongoing efforts to decarbonise the country’s aviation ecosystem,” said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO. “KBR’s PureSAF is a feedstock-flexible, bankable technology that is designed to deliver a 100 per cent drop in jet fuel, ready to power aircraft without blending. We are constantly innovating our SAF solution to make it compatible with feedstock availability in different regions and to enable the aviation industry to transition to low-carbon jet fuel with a cost-optimised approach.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
