Samsung E&A unveils modular LNG solution targeting 20pc faster projects

SAMSUNG E&A has announced a full-scale entry into the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant market with the launch of its new ‘LNG Module Package’ at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The package is designed specifically for LNG liquefaction plant construction and targets the growing demand for modular solutions, particularly in small and medium-sized LNG projects.

The integrated package combines SAMSUNG E&A’s proprietary modular execution technology with Honeywell Technologies’ AP-SMR (Single Mixed Refrigerant) LNG Process liquefaction technology.

Hong Namkoong, President and CEO of SAMSUNG E&A, said:  "The core competitive advantage of this package lies in combining Honeywell's proven process technology with our own modular execution capabilities to shorten project timelines and mitigate execution uncertainties. We will actively respond to the growing demand for modularisation in LNG plants and expand our footprint in the LNG sector by strengthening client collaboration from the earliest stages of a project.”

The company said the pre-engineered and modularised solution can accelerate the project lifecycle from initial development through full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) execution, cutting total project duration by around 20 per cent.

Under the modular construction approach, key equipment and systems are prefabricated at a factory or yard before being assembled at the project site. SAMSUNG E&A said the method reduces on-site work while supporting quality control, process management and productivity.

The company has incorporated modular execution capabilities developed through numerous projects into the new package, with the aim of improving construction efficiency and project completion.

SAMSUNG E&A also plans to use the package to engage customers earlier in the project development process.

By providing technical and business information from the initial stages, the company expects to help clients make decisions more quickly while creating opportunities to participate in projects before the EPC bidding stage.

Earlier this year, SAMSUNG E&A reorganised its business portfolio into Hydrocarbon, Advanced Tech and New Energy, identifying LNG as a key growth pillar for its New Energy business alongside Clean Energy and Water.

The company has since expanded its LNG track record, winning contracts for the basic design of an eco-friendly LNG plant in Indonesia and the conceptual design of an LNG plant in North America-OGN/TradeArabia News Service
