SLB has launched its ChampionX nano-enabled chemical technology portfolio, introducing advanced production chemistry solutions designed to improve output and performance from existing oil and gas assets.

The first offering, Extended Release, is a nano-enabled scale squeeze treatment that provides longer-lasting protection against scale buildup than conventional technologies, helping operators reduce operating costs and repeat interventions in mature and complex production environments.

In offshore deployments, the technology has demonstrated more than twice the treatment life of conventional scale-squeeze solutions, reducing the frequency of maintenance interventions.

“The future of energy production will depend on unlocking more value from assets already in operation,” said Ross O’Dell, Business Line Director, Production Chemical Technologies, SLB. “Extended Release demonstrates how nanotechnology can deliver longer-lasting scale protection, helping operators maintain production continuity with fewer interventions. It is the first step in applying nanotechnology across a broader range of production and recovery challenges.”
