ADNOC has signed a 10-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with India’s Gujarat Energy to supply up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), starting in 2028.
The agreement marks the first sale of LNG from the
international gas portfolio of XRG, ADNOC’s international investment company,
and represents the company’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India.
Rashid Al Mazrouei, ADNOC’s Chief Marketing and Origination
Officer (LNG), said the deal strengthens the UAE’s long-standing energy
partnership with India while demonstrating the growing reach of its
international LNG portfolio.
The agreement also supports the expansion of ADNOC’s global
LNG marketing and trading platform, launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July
2026. The platform has secured supply agreements with Japan’s INPEX, Thailand’s
Gulf Group and India’s Gujarat Energy, strengthening its presence across key
Asian markets.
ADNOC is targeting 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of
marketable LNG beyond 2030, positioning itself among the world’s leading LNG
suppliers.
The deal marks a further step in XRG’s development as an integrated global gas and LNG business, connecting international supply sources with growing demand in key markets.
Avantika Singh Aulakh, Managing Director, GEL said: “Through this partnership,
GEL and ADNOC are joining forces to fully realize the power of our
collaboration. GEL leads the market at every stage of the energy journey,
backed by robust regasification infrastructure, a widespread city gas network
operating across 44 (fourty-four) districts in 6 (six) states, and a
fast-growing trading presence in India. Natural gas is central to driving
India's shift toward cleaner energy, acting as a crucial lower-carbon option
that boosts industrial efficiency, offers households a safer cooking fuel, and
accelerates the growth of eco-friendly transportation.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
