Clariant, a sustainability-focused specialty chemical company, has announced a supply agreement with SYPOX to manufacture catalysts for electric steam methane reformer (e-SMR), set to begin operations in 2026.

This project combines SYPOX’s electrical reformer technology with Clariant’s expertise to produce syngas with reduced carbon emissions, using 10 MW of renewable electricity to generate about 150 tonnes of syngas daily.

Founded in 2021 and backed by the Technical University of Munich, SYPOX aims to decarbonise chemical production by electrifying traditional processes, offering a compact, sustainable, and flexible solution for various applications.
