IMI has opened a new Process Automation manufacturing facility in Lake Forest, California, consolidating its Southern California operations into a purpose-built site focused on advanced manufacturing and sustainability.

Opened in April, the facility brings together more than 200 employees across engineering, manufacturing, project management, quality assurance and R&D under one roof.

The new site designs, manufactures and services severe service control and isolation valves for the oil and gas, power generation and nuclear sectors.

Sustainability features include planned rooftop and parking lot solar arrays expected to offset up to 90 per cent of electricity consumption, fully electric heating systems, EV charging stations and advanced stormwater treatment systems.

Operational upgrades include outsourcing EDM and painting processes to reduce hazardous chemicals and VOC emissions, while a laser overlay welder planned for late 2026 is expected to cut welding gas usage significantly.

The facility was also built to modern green construction standards aligned with LEED certification principles.
