Emarat Maritime is considering buying a second-hand Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) as part of the company’s expansion plan, a company official said.
“We are looking to form a joint-venture with a Japanese company to buy a VLCC,” said Capt Ravi Dey, a manager of tanker operations at Emarat.
The VLCC, if purchased, will be employed in the Middle East-India and Middle East-China trade routes, Dey said.
Emarat Maritime chose a Japanese partner because of its strong ties and good relationships with Japanese companies such as K Line and Itochu, Dey said.
