There has been a steady stream of exhibitor announcements connected with the World Petroleum Exhibition which is being held in parallel with the World Petroleum Congress, the organising committee of the 20th WPC says.
The exhibition which has been sold out for months is set to become one of the biggest attractions for trade visitors in the region and the organising committee expects a large number of trade visitors from the region to visit the exhibition halls of the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) this December.
The World Petroleum Exhibition which is held in parallel with the 20th World Petroleum Congress is set to be the preeminent show of its kind in the region and will be a highlight for many trade visitors seeking opportunities to keep abreast of the most advanced technology and service solutions in the world today.
The exhibitors represent the top echelon of companies in the world and below are some of their plans for the 20th WPC:
Neste Oil’s renewable aviation fuel offers drop-in solution for reducing emissions: Neste Oil will profile its NExBTL renewable aviation fuel during the 20th WPC. Based on Neste Oil’s proprietary technology, the ASTM-approved fuel offers airlines an easy and effective solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Neste Oil became the first oil company to supply premium-quality renewable aviation fuel for scheduled regular daily flights in summer 2011 when Lufthansa began using NExBTL on one of its routes in Germany. NExBTL renewable aviation fuel technology won the Biofuels Technology of the Year award in October 2011.
Weatherford covers reservoir and well systems: Weatherford which has a broad portfolio of technologies and services to address operator challenges across the entire field development lifecycle, will be featuring their integrated reservoir characterisation and formation evaluation capabilities that work to decrease reservoir uncertainty. Weatherford is also featuring its Integrated Well Construction Offerings and Synchronised Technology for Maximised Production – comprising integrated measurement, analysis and control systems to help operators increase production and reduce cost.
Golder Associates to address a multidisciplinary approach to optimising use of unconventional gas: Golder Associates’ Global Oil and Gas leader Robert van Wyngaarden cites shale gas and other unconventional gas and oil development and production in North America and Europe as a major growth and diversification opportunity that requires a multidisciplinary approach in engineering design and environmental planning and permitting. “It’s exciting and challenging to see how the unconventional gas is having major implications for long-term natural gas supply and pricing, growth of gas markets, pipeline infrastructure and climate change strategies.”
BiTherm to outline wireless monitoring technology and intensive maintenance concept: BiTherm will present a multi-purpose wireless system for remote leak detection of process gases or steam and monitoring the presence of toxic or hazardous gases. A notable development of the new system is the unification of technologies and applications integrated into a single monitoring system, which is online controlled by a web server with a simple and intuitive graphical interface. BiTherm says the system has demonstrated excellent results in several Spanish refineries in relevant aspects such as increased energy efficiency, GHG emission reduction, water conservation and chemical treatments, explosion risk reduction, increased safety and reliability, reduced production costs and maintenance.

Velosi to outline its third party inspection and certification services: Velosi, an international third party inspection and certification organisation providing asset integrity and HSE solutions to diverse industries, says it will be looking forward to networking with and introducing its large range of services to the world’s leading oil and gas companies. Velosi services include worldwide vendor inspection, local third party inspection, full-fledged ndt services, management systems certification and more.
Sonangol seeks continued expansion of investment portfolio: Sonangol’s current global investment portfolio includes oil field development and exploration in Africa, Middle East, South American and North American. As we succeed in developing our existing assets in these countries, we plan to expand our investments in other viable regions, and the WPC represents an excellent forum to identify and establish potential partnerships to help us achieve our global investment goals, says Manuel Vicente, Sonangol CEO.
Danish research centre: The Centre of Energy Resources (CERE) is a recent strategic effort at the Technical University of Denmark which combines strong competences from several academic fields – applied thermodynamics, interface and colloid chemistry, geology and scientific computing. The scope is fundamental engineering science in relation to EOR, flow assurance, and history matching, and most of its research projects are conducted in collaboration with one or more members of the CERE Consortium – a group of 28 leading companies in the field.
Deloitte spokesperson anticipates further demergers and spinoffs: Carl Hughes, Global head for Energy and Resources at Deloitte, anticipates further demergers and spinoffs in the global oil and gas sector over the next 2-3 years: “Since the 19th WPC, held three years ago, we have seen a number of demergers and splits in global oil and gas within the ranks of the integrated international oil companies. Those companies severely constrained by the financial crisis and experiencing slow economic growth, may find additional value in splitting their assets as each unit may be worth more than a single entity.”
Delta Doha Corporation expanding its growth horizons: Delta Doha Corporation expects the WPC to increase awareness about Delta, a Qatar-based company that designs, manufactures and services Wellhead equipment, Valves, Actuators and flow control products to the regional and international markets. Managing director Wesam F Swelem says Delta is opening a new US branch that will supply equipments the South and North American markets. In addition, due to high demand for maintenance and engineering services for oil and gas equipment, Delta’s newly formed subsidiary DSERV will highlight its services and showcase current operations within major oil and gas projects in Qatar. The company has an in-house engineering and R&D department whose capabilities include creating the newly launched hydraulic actuator and self-contained surface safety valve that will facilitate conventional maintenance and is suitable for both offshore and onshore operations and ideal for use in H2S and CO2 applications.
Emerson Industrial Automation showcases redundant control system, advanced panelboards and Led hazardous floodlights: Emerson Industrial Automation will be displaying the Asco Numatics Redundant Control System (RCS) during the 20th WPC – a unique pilot valve system that has no single point of failure that can result in an unwanted closure of the process valve. The RCS achieves higher levels of safety incorporating a redundant, fault-tolerant architecture, high diagnostic coverage and automated testing providing higher asset availability, less risk of spurious trips and safe shut downs of mission critical systems. It offers higher flow rates for larger process valve configurations making it ideal for use in oil and gas, refining, and power generation applications. Emerson Industrial Automation will also be demonstrating the Appleton Powerplex Panelboard during the 20th WPC.
Maxon technology addresses process up-time with new safety shut-off valves and partial stroke test technology: Maxon, a Honeywell Company, will present its newly-enhanced Series 8000 safety shut-off valves. When used with patented PSTrend partial stroke test technology, processes can run for longer periods while maintaining appropriate safety levels. Heavy demands of petroleum operators are further answered through standard metal-to-metal seating which wears IN, not OUT, with use, Class VI leakage assurance, and global safety shut-off valve approvals like FM, CSA, BSI, SIL, NACE, and API, to -50 deg C (-58 deg F).
Golder Associates participates in the Social Responsibility Global Village: The Golder Trust for Orphans will be one of the featured presentations at the Social Responsibility Global Village which is located on the exhibition floor. The fund, made possible mainly by contributions from Golder’s operating companies and employees, supports children and families in Africa who have been orphaned or displaced by the AIDS pandemic and especially targets sustainable development projects that, with a helping hand, can become ongoing.
Hydra-Slide presents eponymous hydraulic skidding systems: Hydra-Slide Ltd will be presenting its innovative hydraulic skidding systems, which provide a cost-effective and accurate method for moving, loading and unloading heavy loads of all types. They are strong, safe, simple, and engineered for function and convenience.
