PIH delivers tomorrow’s technology today in region

TO ENABLE contractors/owner-operators to have a complete non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and heat treatment solution, implementing the latest technology, PIH Services Middle East Ltd (part of Stanley Inspection) offers a one-stop solution for both conventional and advanced techniques both onshore and offshore.

One of the biggest non-destructive testing (NDT) companies in the Middle East, specialising in pipeline and plant contracts, in the fields of inspection, NDT and heat treatment, PIH Services ME is active in most of the Middle East countries, specifically in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, where it has fully operational offices, with resident managers. The company has been operating in these countries since 1978 and has over 200 skilled technicians, operating throughout the region.

“Although the majority of our contracts have been awarded to us from the UAE and the other Middle Eastern countries, we have carried out pipeline and large petrochemical plant contracts further afield, in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Mozambique, South Africa, Equatorial New Guinea, Sudan, Angola and Nigeria,” says Wael Kamal, general manager PIH Services Middle East Limited.

With over a quarter of a century of experience in plant, pipelines, offshore and onshore work, the capabilities of PIH Services ME / Stanley Inspection have been enhanced by the introduction and development of new technology and systems for the requirements of NDE and heat treatment within the oil, gas and power industries.

“This new technology includes the latest state-of-the-art phased array automatic ultrasonic (AUT PipeWIZARD) which can be mobilised both onshore and offshore as a totally self contained inspection unit combining speed and accuracy in order to service today’s demand for high output production rates. With our dedicated experienced AUT personnel, we can deliver tomorrow’s technology, today,” Kamal explains.

PIH Services Middle East Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of PIH Holdings Limited, a UK registered company, which in turn, is owned by CRC Evans Pipeline International of Houston Texas USA. Currently CRC Evans group of companies is 100 per cent owned by Stanley Black & Decker (SBD). It was SBD’s commitment to expand and venture into offshore business (especially oil and gas) through acquisition. The result was that SBD chose CRC Evans as the right platform simply for the diversified services (automatic welding, bending of pipes, pipeline construction equipment, coating, inspection services etc.) CRC offers to the clients. The Inspection channel of the group is branded as Stanley Inspection with offices in Houston, South Africa and throughout the Middle East.

PIH Services Middle East Limited was formed from the acquisition of Alkhaja Cooperheat and Alkhaja Pimex in 2000. Following the acquisition the company traded as Alkhaja PIH until March 2003 when its name was changed to PIH Services ME Ltd.
