BACKGROUND

QatarEnergy has decided to build a New Fuel Depot (NFD) in the South of Doha to replace the existing Abu Hamour depot to mitigate the risk of a single supply source.

Abu Hamour depot, the only distribution facility in Qatar, receives gasoline and light gas oil (diesel) from QatarEnergy Refinery located in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), via an 18-inch multi-product pipeline, where the product is loaded via loading gantry into trucks for distribution to fuel stations across the state.

Gasoline and diesel will continue to be supplied to the NFD from QatarEnergy Refinery, while diesel will be supplied from RLIC facilities.

PROJECT SCOPE

The scope of work covers the construction of a new fuel depot, including multiproduct pipelines, a tank farm comprising 16 tanks with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters each, a pump station, loading and diesel loading facilities, and associated product handling and metering systems.

The project also includes fire protection and waste management systems, water supply and utility pumps, gantry loading arms, control, safety and communication systems, electrical infrastructure, and other utility and safety support facilities.

Supporting infrastructure will include an administration building, dispatch and drivers’ buildings, fire station, guard room, substations, mosque, gate house, warehouse, control building and other site infrastructure facilities.

PROJECT STATUS

Actual construction work will begin in November/December 2026.
