French energy company Engie plans to invest up to 4 billion euros ($4.3 billion) in Belgium by 2030, the company announced, with renewable power generation, mainly wind power, identified as a priority.

The firm, which also runs Belgium's nuclear plants and has close to 3 million customers in the country, said it is targeting installing wind power capacities of 2 gigawatts, split evenly between onshore and offshore projects.

The company also said it was investing in its new Flemalle gas power plant - planned to start service next year - and expanding its power storage infrastructure to allow for more flexibility. -Reuters
