Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Ltd (Borouge) is among leading regional firms preparing for a landmark petrochemical summit in the UAE in December.
Borouge, a joint venture between glabal petrochemical group Borealis and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, is one of the founding members of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) which is organising the show.
In preparation for the Second Annual Forum from December 11 to 13 in Dubai, the GPCA cently announced its star speaker list for the event.
The list includes Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries; Ray Wilcox, president and CEO, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company; Peter Huntsman, CEO, Huntsman Corporation; Stephanie A Burns, chairman, president and CEO, Dow Corning Corporation; Andrew Liveris, CEO, the Dow Chemical Company; Abdulrahman A Al Zamil, director, Al Zamil Group; Steve Cornell, senior vice-president, Middle East and Asia, Total Petrochemicals; Volker Trautz, president and CEO, Basell Polyolefins; Mohamed H Al Mady, vice-chairman and CEO, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and Hamad Al Terkait, president and CEO, Equate Petrochemical Company (Equate) Kuwait.
GPCA, a non-profit organisation and a regional platform for the petrochemicals and chemicals industry in the Gulf, was created in 2006, with founding members including Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), Equate Petrochemical Co, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co (GPIC), Petrochemical Industries Co (PIC), Qatar Petrochemical Co Ltd (Qapco), Qatar Vinyl Company Ltd (QVC), National Industrialisation Company (Tasnee), and Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge).
Since its inception, the organisation has crossed many significant milestones including conducting research on the petrochemicals and chemicals sector in the Gulf; organising dialogue between key stakeholders on issues related to industry growth, safety, environment, sustainable development and HR needs; as well as an extremely successful First Annual Forum conducted in December last year in Dubai.
Commenting on the high-profile list of speakers for the 2007 Second Annual Forum, Abdullah S bin Zaid Al Hagbani, secretary-general of GPCA, said:
“We are pleased that so many prominent and internationally-acclaimed experts in the petrochemicals and chemicals industry have accepted our invitation to speak at GPCA’s Second Annual Forum.
“I think this is a reflection of the undeniably global significance of the Gulf in terms of these critical industries.
